Vote for TCPalm's Athlete of the Week for Oct. 17-22

Seven student-athletes are in consideration for TCPalm's Athlete of the Week for competitions during the week of Oct. 17-22.

Last week, Jensen Beach senior swimmer Ayden Cason won the vote receiving just under 20,000 votes and 44 percent of the ballot.

Cason won the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle and also helped the Falcon 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams win as the team won the overall title at the Martin County Championships on Oct. 14.

Coaches can email scores to bcooney@gannett.com or TCsports@tcpalm.com each night in order for athletes to be considered to be nominated each week.

This week, voting takes place beginning at 1 p.m. Monday and will close Thursday at 1 p.m.

Brianna Castaldi, Pine School

Castaldi had a standout week of play first winning medalist honors at Monday’s Treasure Lake Conference Championship shooting 1-under 71 at Meadowood Golf and Tennis Club. She then a 4-under round of 32 in a tri-match against Vero Beach and Oxbridge Academy on Tuesday and shot 3-under 33 in a tri-match against Jensen Beach and Suncoast on Thursday.

Shawn Tyson, South Fork

Tyson shot a 4-under par round of 32 in a tri-match against Vero Beach and Dwyer at Hammock Creek Golf Club on Tuesday.

Sage Morrow, Vero Beach

Morrow ran a new personal best time of 16:19.1 to take the top spot at Tuesday’s District 6-4A Championship race in Boca Raton to also help his team finish second in the standings.

Carrington Brown, St. Edward’s

Brown ran a new personal best time of 20:34.5 to finish fourth at Thursday’s District 7-1A Championship race in Stuart.

Kailani Zezas, Fort Pierce Central

Zezas had a career-high 24 kills and 24 digs in the Cobras’ four-set win over Palm Beach Gardens on Wednesday.

Julia Mesic, Fort Pierce Westwood

Mesic won both the 100 (56.70) and 500 (5:27.08) freestyle events at Thursday’s 10-3A Championships in Sebastian.

Evan Pelletier, Martin County

Pelletier won the 100 freestyle (49.51) and took second in the 50 freestyle (22.25) at Friday’s District 5-4A Championship in Jupiter.
