Friendship Christian's Deshea Oakley, PJP II's Chet Lax capture Tennessean athletes of the week

Deshea Oakley captured the girls athlete of the week while the boys athlete of the week winner was Pope John Paul II's Chet Lax after the first spring sports poll wrapped up this afternoon.

Oakley finished with 60,903 total votes (38.7%) and narrowly beat out Father Ryan's Morgan Lynd who had 54,596 (34.7%). Donelson Christian's Anaya Dawson finished third with 13,219 votes.

Oakley went 3-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and a stolen base as FCS cruised to a 17-1 win over Nashville Christian last week.

Lax captured 35.4% of the boys total votes with 15,469. He beat out Grace Christian's Trace Phillips who finished with 13,098 votes. Page's Aiden Pierpoint took third with 6,939 votes.

Lax pitched a complete game, struck out eight and gave up only three hits in a 5-0 win over Brentwood Academy last Thursday.
