Roderick Brown of Linden football voted Tuscaloosa area high school athlete of the week
Roderick Brown of No. 6 Linden football was voted the Tuscaloosa News top area high school sports performer last week for the Week 1 poll. Brown got 9,519 votes, 33.19%.
Brown had 168 yards and one touchdown rushing, 13 tackles and two interceptions in a 20-14 win over Milry for Linden, which is now 3-0 after defeating Keith 32-22.
Charles Neal of South Lamar football finished second with 6,672 votes, 23.26. He had 231 yards on 10 carries for four touchdowns in a 41-13 win against Holy Spirit.
Elijjah Merriweather of Pickens County football was the only other candidate to receive more than 10% of the vote, finishing with 4,257 votes, 14.84%.
Fans may vote in the weekly poll one time per hour per device. The poll closes at 11 a.m. each Thursday. VOTES SENT TO EMAIL WILL NOT COUNT.
