Voters guide to Election 2023 [Updated]

Oct. 15—Boys cross country

Exeter senior Slater von Stetten won in 16:37 to lead his team to victories over Fleetwood, Hamburg and Oley Valley in a quad meet that completed an undefeated dual meet season for the Eagles (7-0 Berks I, 15-0).

Girls cross country

Gov. Mifflin senior Kaitlyn Highduch won in 19:02 to lead her team to victories over Berks Catholic, Wyomissing and Tulpehocken in a quad meet that completed an undefeated dual meet season for the Mustangs (7-0 Berks I, 15-0).

Field hockey

Wyomissing sophomore Skylar Maggs had five goals and five assists in three victories for the Spartans. She had a goal and an assist in a 3-0 win over Middletown, two goals and two assists in an 8-0 win over Kutztown, and two goals and two assists in a 7-0 win over Muhlenberg.

Football

Exeter junior Jayden Zandier ran for 263 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries, returned a kickoff 79 yards for a score and had an interception in the Eagles' 49-27 win over Hempfield. He finished with 342 all-purpose yards.

Golf

Tulpehocken junior Zach Neuin led the District 3 Class 2A champion Trojans to a 330-339 victory over District 5 champ Conemaugh Township in a Class 2A sub-regional Tuesday with a 3-over 75 at Iron Masters Country Club in Roaring Spring. With the win, Tulpehocken qualified for the PIAA team championships for the first time in school history.

Boys soccer

Tulpehocken sophomore Connor Hussman had two goals and two assists across the Trojans' final two victories of the regular season before scoring two goals in a 4-1 win over Muhlenberg in a Berks Boys Soccer League quarterfinal.

Girls soccer

Wyomissing senior Annie McCaffrey scored two goals in the Spartans' 4-0 win over Kutztown before recording two goals and one assist in a 4-0 victory over Hamburg in a Berks Girls Soccer League quarterfinal.

Girls tennis

Conrad Weiser senior Emma Perkins defeated defending champ Sienna Castelli of Lancaster Country Day 6-0, 6-0 to win the District 3 Class 2A singles championship. Perkins lost just three games in her four district matches. It's her fourth district title after winning doubles titles each of the previous three years.

Girls volleyball

Twin Valley senior Jordyn Robinette combined for 12 aces, 31 skills and 30 digs to lead the Raiders to three victories, including one that gave Wilson its first league loss. She had three aces, 14 kills and 15 digs in the 3-2 victory over the Bulldogs after registering seven aces, five kills and seven digs in a 3-0 win over Fleetwood, and two aces, 12 kills and eight digs in a 3-0 win over Daniel Boone.

Boys water polo

Exeter senior Kiaden Hughes made 74 saves over five games as the Eagles went 2-3. Hughes made 13 saves in an 18-7 loss to Cumberland Valley, 17 saves in a 11-10 win over Central York, 13 saves in a 10-6 loss to Erie Cathedral Prep, 16 saves in a 9-8 win over McDowell at the Screamin Eagle Tournament and 15 saves in a 13-7 loss to North Allegheny at the Screamin Eagle Tournament.

Girls water polo

Exeter junior Maddie McCraw made 47 saves over four games as the Eagles went 1-3. McCraw made nine saves in a 3-1 win over North Allegheny, 11 saves in a 5-4 loss to Erie McDowell, 14 saves in a 11-7 loss to Central York and 13 saves in a 7-3 loss to Cumberland Valley.
