Voters return mostly familiar faces to the Terrebonne School Board. Who's in, who's not.

One new member will join seven incumbents when the Terrebonne Parish School Board begins its new term in January.

Meanwhile, a Dec. 10 runoff will decide who represents District 1 in Houma on the board after none of the three candidates in Tuesday's election received at least 50% of the vote.

In Tuesday's election, newcomer George Crowdus Jr. defeated Wanda Ruffin-Triggs for the District 5 seat. The post was vacated after incumbent Stacey Verhagen Solet chose not to run.

Incumbents Roger Dale DeHart in District 7 and Dane Voisin in District 9, both Republicans, won reelection in July after signing up unopposed. And five incumbents retained their seats in Tuesday's elections.

The races decided so far leave the board with seven Republicans and one Democrat.

The nine board members will be sworn in for four-year terms in January.

Here's a rundown of Tuesday's election results by district, according to complete but unofficial returns.

District 1: Incumbent Mike Lagarde, a Democrat, will face Republican Allison Cressoine Gill in the Dec. 10 runoff. On Tuesday, Lagarde received 667 votes (40%), Gill got 508 votes (31%), and former School Board member Roosevelt Thomas, a Democrat, got 487 votes (29%). In District 1, 29% of voters cast ballots.

District 2: Incumbent Gregory Harding, a Democrat, won with 1,219 votes (60%). Alicia Louise Dove, an independent, received 807 votes (40%). In District 2, 31% of voters turned out.

District 3: Incumbent Matthew Ford won with 1,459 votes (56%). Shari Champagne received 1,165 votes (44%). Both are Republicans. In District 3, 38.4% of voters cast ballots.

District 4: Incumbent Debi Benoit won with 1,574 (56%). Jax Badeaux received 1,240 votes (44%). Both are Republicans. In District 4, 42.1% of voters turned out to vote.

District 5: George Crowdus Jr., a Republican, won with 1,971 votes (71%). Wanda Ruffin-Triggs, an independent, got 821 votes (29%). In District 5, 40.8% of voters turned out.

District 6: Incumbent Clyde F. Hamner, a Republican, won with 3,709 votes (73%). Pamela Mayet, an independent, got 1,404 votes (27%). In District 6, 57.2% of voters turned out to vote.

District 8: Incumbent MayBelle Trahan, a Republican, won with 2,115 votes (75%). Ernest Charles Brown Sr., a Democrat, received 716 votes (25%). In District 8, 39.9% of voters turned out.
