Trump's getting away with crazy talk

Where is the outrage? Donald Trump, through his attorney, claims absolute immunity, so that if he regains the presidency, as long as he is not first Impeached by the House and convicted by the Senate, he can order the military, the FBI, the CIA or one of his sons to kill all his political enemies and not be charged. I presume he doesn't think Biden also has this right. How can so many Americans be duped by this want-to-be dictator? Why aren't all the newspapers and TV commentators condemning Trump's impunity contention with the patriotic scorn it deserves?

No polite explanation for Jan. 6 violence

A Post reader recently wrote there is “no evidence the Jan. 6 mob was attempting to overthrow the government.” Breaking windows and forcibly entering the Capitol of the the United States is not attempting to overthrow the government? Why were they crushing that cop up against a pillar, dragging another backward down the stairs while beating him, and spraying a substance strong enough to deter a bear, into the faces of other policemen?

Can't Florida move on from the Civil War?

It’s hard to grasp that this is an actual proposed bill to protect and preserve “historical monuments and memorials.” I’m assuming this is referring to Civil War monuments, which preserve and glorify a misguided period in our past, the battle for slavery. It seems the legislators and Governor would have us worship false idols.

Republicans robbing women of healthcare

The recent cases of Brittany Watts in Ohio and Kate Cox in Texas serve as harrowing reminders of the consequences faced by women in states with draconian abortion laws. Despite Republican assurances, these women's health emergencies were not just neglected; their personal tragedies were compounded by legal prosecution and denial of essential healthcare. The "exceptions" to these laws are neither reliable nor humane. This systematic denial of healthcare is a chilling echo of the once-decried "death panels." The only viable path forward is clear and urgent: We must send more Democrats to Congress, reelect President Joe Biden, eliminate the filibuster and firmly codify Roe v. Wade into law. This is a critical step in ensuring that women's health and rights are not just a matter of political debate but are protected as fundamental human rights.

Youth will prevail over social media bans

Lawmakers considering social media bans for kids are showing us how clueless they are when it comes to trying to implement them. Whatever roadblocks are set up, young people will find a way around them in a short period of time. The real monitors for this are parents.
