VP Kamala Harris to visit Savannah. What we know about the event, traffic, attendees

Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to visit Savannah on Tuesday, according to a White House release.

The stop is the third leg of her “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour. It is her 11th visit to Georgia since being sworn in, according to the release.

"The vice president will highlight the harm caused by extreme abortion bans and share stories of those who have been impacted in Georgia and across the country," the release said.

When will Kamala Harris be in Savannah, Ga.?

Harris is scheduled to be in Savannah on mid-day Tuesday, Feb. 6.

Is it her visit open to the public?

According to a White House release, the event at the Savannah Civic Center is invite-only.

Who all will be in attendance?

The Savannah Morning News is working to confirm who all will be in attendance. Mayor Van Johnson is expected to attend. Sen. Raphael Warnock was in Savannah on Monday but returned to Washington, D.C. and will not be at the event.

Will roads be blocked near the Savannah Civic Center on Tuesday?

As with any event involving the White House, it is likely roads will be blocked for the arrival of the vice president. The Savannah Morning News is working to confirm where and when traffic will be impacted.

"For security reasons, we are unable to release specific motorcade routes in advance but the public can expect intermittent road closures and parking restrictions as part of the visit," a Secret Service spokesperson said via email.
