VSP searching for vehicle that struck an electric pole in Rustburg

RUSTBURG, Va. (WFXR)– Virginia State Police are currently investigating a single-vehicle accident on Village Highway early Sunday morning.

According to the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department (RVFD), crews were dispatched at 2:15 a.m. to the 1033 block of Village Hwy on a report of wires down. Units found a pole that had been hit by an unknown vehicle.

Crews say the impact broke the pole at the ground and snapped the top off with a transformer knocking down into the roadway, and causing a power outage in Rustburg.

RVFD was on the scene until 4:30 a.m. clearing the wires out of the road.

Virginia State Police is investigating the scene to find the unknown vehicle that hit the pole and left the scene.
