VSP working to identify man killed while walking on I-81 in Augusta Co.
AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police are working to learn the identity of a pedestrian who was killed in a crash on I-81 in Augusta County early Friday morning.
State police said they were dispatched to Route 11 just after midnight on Feb. 9. While at the scene, troopers learned a man was hit while walking on the road along Route 11 North, at the I-81 entrance ramp.
VSP said the vehicle was attempting to merge onto the I-81 ramp, and could not avoid hitting the man.

State police described the white man as around 5’8″ to 5’10” and around 145 lbs. He is believed to be around 25-35 years old. He was wearing all-black, non-reflective clothing with black cargo-style sweatpants, and black athletic sneakers. Police said he has a goatee and medium-length brown hair.
During the crash, he was carrying a blue Android cellphone.
The driver was not injured and no charges will be filed.
