BELLEVUE — Tom and Lavin Schwan, the owners of Bellevue’s popular barbecue business, Bone Boys BBQ and Catering, have taken the next step in the evolution of their business and opened The Vue Banquet and Event Center.

The Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for The Vue earlier this month, and the center held its inaugural event, a dinner and comedy night, that evening.

The Vue, in the former Bierkeller Pub and Restaurant building, offers three event spaces to rent. The Cove can accommodate 125 people in a rustic, intimate atmosphere featuring a stone fireplace. Legacy Hall can accommodate 235 people for larger events including weddings, parties, and corporate meetings. The Pavilion offers outside space for casual, corporate, or formal events. The Vue also offers space for smaller employee or corporate meetings and events, with corporate rates available.

The Cove inside The Vue features a fireplace and offers an intimate space for smaller gatherings. Here, The Cove was prepped for The Vue’s dinner and comedy night on Nov. 12. Bone Bones BBQ, which has gained a large fanbase in the area, will be the exclusive caterer for The Vue.

“We are outfitted to accommodate small to large groups, with all of the audio-visual equipment on hand,” Lavin said.

With all that The Vue offers, the food may be its biggest draw. Bone Boys BBQ, which will be the exclusive caterer for The Vue, has developed a faithful following with its variety of smoked and grilled meats, as well as other options, such as spaghetti and meatballs and unique side dishes.

“Whenever we have a meeting, we get Bone Boys,” said Sarah Wilson, a director at the Bellevue Area Chamber of Commerce. “I think The Vue is going to be wonderful. There was definitely a need for a venue like this in Bellevue.”

Tom said he and Lavin are still working through the early stages of developing The Vue, but they have a clear vision in mind.

“What I do know is that we want to have a place for the people of Bellevue and the greater area to have fun,” he said. “We knew this was the next evolution in our catering business. We were wanting to have a hall, but we prayed on it and prayed on it, to make sure it was what God wanted.”

The Nov. 12 ribbon cutting was attended by chamber representatives, local dignitaries, and employees of local businesses, including Laura Krinke, a human resources manager at Magretech who wanted to see if The Vue could accommodate employee parties. She was very impressed with the space and atmosphere.

“At Magretech, they’re very sentimental about the holidays. They’re having a Thanksgiving buffet and a Christmas party, because they want our employees to know they’re appreciated,” Krinke said. “I came here today because I heard The Vue had this great space.”

During the ribbon cutting, Lavin said that she and Tom are excited to offer rental space and fun events for the community.

“People want to get out and not have to drive to Cleveland or Toledo. This will be good for our barbeque business, our catering business, and, hopefully, for the community,” Lavin said. “We stepped out in faith and bathed this in prayer.”

The Vue has several events lined up in the coming months: a Night Before Thanksgiving Party on Nov. 24; Thanksgiving Meals to Go on Thanksgiving Day (order deadline is Nov. 22 at noon); Thanksgiving Day Buffet (reservations required); Sip and Shop on Dec. 11; and a New Year’s Eve Party featuring The Earthquakers band. The Vue also will host the 2022 Bellevue High School Prom.

Tom and Lavin welcome ideas for other upcoming events.

The Vue is at 600 Southwest St. For more information, visit The Vue Facebook page or call 419-307-3320.
