No matter who the judges are, Wé Ani continues to impress. The Paterson resident is through to the Top 5 on "American Idol" and is just one step away from reaching the finale.

Sunday night's episode saw two guest judges fill in for Katy Perry and Lionel Richie, who were in the United Kingdom performing at the coronation concert for King Charles III. Tagging in for them this week were Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran, who sat alongside regular Luke Bryan.

In honor of the guest judges, contestants sang songs by each. Ani first performed Sheeran's "Perfect" in a duet with fellow contestant Warren Peay.

She followed that up with a version of Morissette's "Uninvited," impressing the songwriter herself.

"It was just you communicating so beautifully," Morissette said of the performance. "All these different flavors and such agency and access to it. It was chilling to behold you."

This is not Ani's first foray into the world of TV music competitions. In 2016, she finished third on "The Voice" when she was just 17 years old. When she takes the stage on "Idol" next Sunday, she will have chance to make the Top 3, meaning she could match or surpass her finish on "The Voice."

Next week's episode will see the final five perform Disney songs in front of Richie, Perry and Bryan.
