Wacky Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers longs 'for the return of McCarthyism.' Her words

Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers tweeted that she would like to bring back McCarthyism.
Arizona state Sen. Wendy Rogers tweeted that she would like to bring back McCarthyism.

I don’t know which is worse.

If Republican state Sen. Wendy Rogers was taught about McCarthyism and the Communist witch hunts that ruined thousands of lives in the 1950s, and then, sadly, she forgot the lesson.

Or if she was taught all that and … remembered perfectly.

Either way, Rogers, the wackiest of Arizona’s elected GOP wackadoodles, has announced that she longs for the return of McCarthyism.

Really.

She tweeted on Monday:

Most of these politicians are either Soros bought or are Soros-sympathizers. It is like in Vietnam, most were either VC or helping VC. Bring back McCarthyism. We are well past the #RedScare days.

Rogers would promote guilt by accusation

For those of you who do not have a grasp on exactly what “McCarthyism” means, I offer this from the American Heritage Dictionary, which defines McCarthism as “the political practice of publicizing accusations of disloyalty or subversion with insufficient regard to evidence.”

Did you catch that last part?

Accusations of disloyalty or subversion with insufficient regard to evidence.

In other words, Rogers longs for a return to a time when an unproven accusation was enough to ruin a person’s reputation, their career and, in many cases, actually put them in prison.

What do her Republican brothers and sisters have to say about that?

I haven’t heard any of them condemn her.

So, do they agree?

Both would dismantle federal law enforcement

I also didn’t see any GOP bigwigs condemn Rogers or state Rep. Mark Finchem when the two of them – Arizona’s Abbott and Costello of conspiracy comics – showed up at a QAnon conference in Dallas.

Not long ago, Ron Filipkowski, a former federal prosecutor who spends a lot of time exposing right-wing extremists, posted a video on Twitter that featured Rogers and Finchem.

He tweeted:

At the QAnon ‘Awaken America’ Conference in Dallas, man in audience asks panel including Michael Flynn, and AZ Senators Wendy Rogers and Mark Finchem, which govt agencies should be disbanded “in light of the Maxwell/Epstein trial.” They responded: FBI, CIA, NSA and CDC.

So, elected officials who gripe about defunding the police would eliminate the FBI, our federal law enforcement agency, the intelligence gathering CIA and NSA, along with the research and the lifesaving CDC.

And, again, I haven't heard any prominent Republicans condemning them.

If you watch the video you’ll hear one of our conspiracy cranks ask, “Any other letters?”

Yes, actually.

How about … GOP.
