Wagener man found dead after Monday morning house fire

Dec. 26—A Wagener man was found dead Monday morning after a house fire.

Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables said the person who died was found after fire crews were called at 1:21 a.m. to a house fire in the 7000 block of Wagener Road.

He added the person has not been positively identified due to thermal injuries.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday morning in Newberry.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
