Wagnalls Memorial hosting several upcoming events including a rummage sale

The Wagnalls Memorial, 150 East Columbus Street in Lithopolis has several events coming up to share with the public.

Ink and Stone is part of the new Teen Literary Journal and is now taking submissions. Mabel Wagnalls Jones, founder and proprietor of The Wagnalls Memorial, was a writer and supported writers. In 1931, she and the Board of Trustees corresponded to create a writing contest for area high school students.

In honor of her legacy, The Wagnalls Memorial is starting Ink & Stone, a teen literary journal, for its first publication in May of 2024. Wagnalls.org has more information. Submissions are due March 31.

Wagnalls is having a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 20 in the Community Building. Support this fundraiser for Wagnalls by donating unwanted items or by coming to the sale. They are accepting clothes, and are asking that all electronics are in working condition. Drop-off is from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, in the Community Building. For questions, contact Deb Silvia at 614-837-4765, X132.

Fairfield County Board of Health is having a vaccine clinic in the Wagnalls Library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22. No reservations are needed. Covid vaccines are free. Flu vaccines can be billed to health insurance or paid out of pocket for $21.

The OSU Extension Office will be presenting an upcoming workshop, Winter Wellness, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the Wagnalls Library. Learn effective tips to beat the blues, boost overall health, and cultivate joy. Join patrons for a season of well-being and vitality. The class is free, but registration is requested. Patrons can register online through the website’s library calendar or visit or call the library to be added to the list. To call the library, dial 614-837-4765.

Friday, Jan. 26, at 6:30 p.m. there will be a magic show in the auditorium featuring magicians Erica Carlson and The Magic Nate Show. Books and magic kits will be available for purchase after the show. Family tickets are $20 which admits one adult and up to three children. Single adult tickets are $10. Chamber of Commerce

Join members of the Canal Winchester Chamber for a night of fun at its Annual Awards Night at BrewDog, in Canal Winchester on March 1. They will have a live band, cocktail hour, silent auction, awards presentation, and photo booth/entertainment for guests to enjoy.

Attendees will have the opportunity to mix and mingle in a relaxed environment and celebrate the 2024 Award Winners. Members, local officials, and city council will be invited to attend.

Reservations include one drink ticket, heavy hors d'oeuvres, live band, and entertainment options.

Members are also securing silent auction items and baskets for the silent auction. Donations of auction items can be made by emailing cwchamber@canalwincester.com.

CWLS PTO

The Canal Winchester Local Schools PTO is sponsoring a western-themed family dance, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Winchester Trail School. There will be dancing, games, photos, snacks, and fun for everyone. A sensory-friendly room will be available.
