A series of posters with the logo of the Russian private military company Wagner Group appeared on the streets of Krakow, Poland, an advisor to the Krakow municipality, Lukasz Wantuch, said in a Facebook post on Aug. 10.

“A very strange and intriguing case,” said Wantuch.

“Posters advertising recruitment to Wagner Group have appeared in Krakow. As it turns out, it's a kind of provocation, and not only in Krakow.”

The posters contain an appeal – in English – to join the Wagner PMC and a QR code that leads to a Russian-language website.

Local newspaper Gazeta Krakowska reported that Bartlomiej Izdebski, a Krakow police officer, stated that the police have two such case and are currently working to determine its context.

“We are gathering testimonies, photographing the posters, and will be investigating,” Izdebski said.

“Right now, it's hard to say more because it's only the first day.”
