Sioux Falls independent concert promoting company the Collective Efforts Union (CEU) announced Wednesday that the Grammy-nominated reggae band The Wailers will perform in Sioux Falls for the first time at the Icon Event Hall on August 24 at 7 p.m.

“This legendary group has never played in Sioux Falls,” said the owner of CEU Jayson Weihs.

The Wailers, said Weihs, is a legendary reggae band, one of the several spinoffs from Bob Marley and the Wailers that continued after Marley's death.

Weihs said that CEU learned that the Wailers would be touring in the area and had an available date. The company then decided that it would be a good show for the market. The company spoke with the Wailers booking representatives, and the sides were able to make it work.

“They really wanted to play here, and we were able to find the place to make it happen,” said Weihs.

The Wailers 1.5-hour-2-hour performance will be accompanied by similarly-styled local bands Neon Horizon and Tuff Roots, who will perform for 30 and 45 minutes respectively. Weihs said CEU expects around 400-500 spectators at this show.

The cost of the tickets is $25 in advance, and $30 at the door. Tickets are on sale and are available at local outlets, such as Last Stop CD shop and Westside Glass Emporium, as well as at Collective Efforts Union's website
