A TikToker shared a cautionary tale after her friend witnessed a man spike a woman’s drink while the pair was on a blind date in broad daylight.
“This is why you should never leave the table when you’re on a blind date,” Pierce said in her now-viral video. “One of my best friends and I worked at the same restaurant. When I came in later [one] day for my shift, she told me a crazy story.”
Pierce went on to explain that her friend’s first table of the day was a man and a woman who were clearly “on a first date” together.
“The girl was nervous, so she ordered a glass of wine,” she added.
Pierce’s waitress friend seemed to believe the date was going well, until the woman got up to use the bathroom.
“Right when my friend was about to come over and bring the silverware, she saw [the man] put something in [his date’s] wine,” Pierce said.
Pierce’s friend, who was “terrified” at what had unfolded before her, quickly informed her manager, who promptly called the police. She also went into the bathroom to warn the female customer about what she had witnessed.
“The girl ended up staying in the bathroom until the police came, arrested him and escorted him out of the building,” Pierce shared. “It was noon on a Tuesday. You don’t think you’re going to be drugged at noon on a Tuesday.”
The video, which has since racked up over 1.3M views, struck a chord on TikTok, with many commenters expressing gratitude that Pierce’s friend acted quickly and calmly.
“Thank goodness your friend took action,” one user wrote.
“Proud of your friend for speaking up!” said another.
Others shared their own scary experiences with drink spiking.
“Worst date I ever had the guy kept insisting I needed to go to the bathroom. I didn’t,” said one TikToker. “It wasn’t until this moment that I get why!”
“My mom has told me that if I have a drink and need to use the bathroom to bring it to the bathroom with me,” said another.
“This happened to me and a server caught it and let me know,” wrote a third. “I’m so grateful for her.”

To protect yourself against a possible drugging, Hall suggests never leaving your drink unattended and keeping either your hand or a coaster over the mouth of your beverage at all times, even if it’s right in front of you.
