Wakulla's Xavier Blake is your Big Bend Preps Athlete of the Week
For the first time this season, we are heading outside of Tallahassee for this week's winner. Making the straight drive south down to Crawfordville, we are at Wakulla as senior running back Xavier Blake has been named this week's Big Bend Preps Athlete of the Week.
In a large turnout, seeing over 19,500 votes submitted, Blake picked up the "W' with 40 percent of the overall pool going to him. The recognition comes after his Week 7 performance against St. John Paul II, rushing for an impressive career-high 249 yards. His effort helped the War Eagles to a narrow 39-36 win over the Panthers.

Blake has been a key piece to Wakulla's success, owning 879 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the year and averaging 83 rushing yards per game. The War Eagles have jumped out to a 6-1 record and driving to the top of the Suburban 2 class standings. They are at Taylor County on Friday

The Tallahassee Democrat/Big Bend Preps runs an Athlete of the Week contest every week, recognizing one standout high school athlete out of eight nominees. Voting for AotW opens on Monday and closes on Thursday.
The Athlete of the Week will be announced at noon on Friday.
