Walk-up window hours coming to North Augusta Waffle House

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (WJBF) – The Waffle House in North Augusta at 1171 W. Martintown Road will not be changing its hours, according to Vice President of Food Safety and Public Relations Njeri Boss, but it will be trying out a new prototype business model on Fridays and Saturdays by closing the dining room to customers and offering walk-up window service, instead.

According to Boss, a few select locations across the country are rolling out the new alternate business model that they hope will provide better service and help with staffing issues while still remaining open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Starting in mid-March, on Fridays and Saturdays, the W. Martintown Road Waffle House dining room will be closed to starting at 9 p.m. and customers will choose and order from the Favorites Menu at one of the restaurant’s walk-up windows.

This new business model is not impacting any other local locations, but it will, instead, be rolled out at select Waffle Houses across the country. At this time, Waffle House is not releasing how many locations the walk-up window concept and amended lobby hours is being tried at, according to the spokesperson.

According to Boss, this “better business model” has been in the testing phase for years to refine service without sacrificing operating hours and that the change for the W. Martintown location has been “on the books” for quite a while and is not the result of any specific law enforcement incidents nor of any particular law enforcement concerns – staffing being the most important issue that the new walk-up window and limited lobby hours is hoped to address.
