Walker named publisher of Richmond Register

Jul. 11—Mark Walker, a veteran Kentucky newspaper executive, has been appointed publisher of the Richmond Register.

He succeeds Gary Tyler, who served as the newspaper's manager and publisher for five years.

"I am looking forward to working with the great staff at the Richmond Register," said Walker. "Everyone strikes me as dedicated to serving the community with quality print and digital news and advertising content. So, I know we will be successful."

Walker is presently the CNHI Kentucky group publisher for The Commonwealth Journal in Somerset, The Sentinel-Echo in London and the Times-Tribune in Corbin. The Richmond Register will become the fourth paper under his oversight.

He served as Richmond's circulation director from 2017 to 2019. He has also been a regional circulation manager for CNHI Kentucky.

CNHI, LLC, headquartered in Montgomery, Alabama, owns community newspapers, digital platforms and magazines in more than 20 Southern, Midwestern and Northeastern states.

A native of Glasgow, Kentucky, he began his newspaper career at the Glasgow Daily Times as a sports photographer while in high school. He later worked for Schurz Communications, Boone Newspapers and RR Donnelley and Sons.

All four newspapers are owned by CNHI, LLC.

Walker returns to the Register after previously serving as the newspaper's circulation director from 2017 to 2019.

Walker, a veteran newspaper executive, has served as general manager and publisher of the London and Corbin papers for three years, and the Somerset paper for the past two years.
