Walking Dead spin-offs will be allowed to resume filming amid the current actor and writer strikes.

Deadline reports that AMC Networks has reached a deal with SAG-AFTRA to clear the casts and crews of Walking Dead shows Daryl Dixon and The Ones Who Live to begin production once again.

Interview with a Vampire will also be able to start shooting its second season for AMC as part of this direct agreement with the union.

According to reports, AMC has signed waivers specifically for these three shows rather than an overall deal for all of the channel's various content.

This agreement means Daryl Dixon's cast and crews will be back to work on season two soon in Europe, while most of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live's work will be in post-production. No writing will be taking place, as that would require a separate deal with the WGA.

The news comes after AMC Networks CEO Kristin Dolan recently suggested that the strike would not actually delay the premiere dates for both new Walking Dead shows.

"We greatly value the work of our creative partners and hope these disputes can be resolved as quickly and fairly as possible," Dolan told Wall Street analysts in an earnings call (via Deadline).

"In the short term, the reality for AMC Networks is that we have a pipeline of finished shows that will allow us to continue to serve our viewers across all of our platforms for the remainder of this year and well into 2024."

While this is an encouraging development for fans of The Walking Dead, it may not be an indicator that the strike will be over soon.

This deal was made possible because, while AMC is a member of the AMPTP studio group, it isn't directly involved with the negotiations between studios and the actors union.

The Walking Dead aired on AMC in the US and STAR on Disney+ in the UK. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to premiere on September 10, with The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live set to follow next year.
