Nov. 10—MANCHESTER — The public is invited to a free history walk on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. at the front steps of Town Hall, 41 Center St., rain or shine.

Walkers will visit the Masonic Temple, a neo-classical building that opened in 1926. The building is for sale and this may be a final opportunity to see the interior.

The walk will continue past two other examples of fraternal organizations in the town center, and finish with a visit to Center Memorial Park.

The town historian will lead the walk, which will take about 90 minutes. Parking is available behind Town Hall.

A conversation with Sonia Sotomayor

HARTFORD — The Connecticut Forum will present a virtual conversation with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at The Bushnell, 166 Capitol Ave.

Sotomayor will be participating remotely in this live conversation. She will be projected via a livestream feed onto a large, on-stage screen; event moderator Soledad O'Brien will appear live on The Bushnell stage.

Sotomayor will talk with Soledad O'Brien about her life, career, and time on the Supreme Court. The conversation will include questions from the audience.

Carberry Conversation

SPRINGFIELD — Kimani Worghs, who studied digital photography at Springfield Technical Community College and earned his degree in 2020, will discuss his latest project via a live Zoom interview Wednesday at 12:15 p.m.

His talk is part of STCC's "Carberry Conversations" series. He will be speaking with Sondra Peron, who taught Worghs during his last semester at STCC.

Worghs is currently enrolled at Parsons School of Design in New York City, pursuing a BFA in photography.

The 22-year-old in early October launched his first book of photography, "Ascension," which features photos he took between 2020 and 2022. Some of the photos in the book were shot while he was a student at STCC.

Manchester history questions

MANCHESTER — The Manchester Historical Society will host Bob Kanehl as part of its new lecture series Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Manchester History Center, 175 Pine St.

Kanehl will have an open conversation with audience members about the history of Manchester, so have your questions ready.

Kanehl is the author of "Historical Tales of Manchester, Connecticut" and several other novels. In addition, he writes a biweekly column in the Journal Inquirer about Manchester history and serves the Manchester Historical Society as a docent at the Old Manchester Museum and the Woodbridge Farm.

Admission is free, but in an effort to expand membership, new member forms will be available. New members will receive a free copy of "The Miracle Workers" ($15 value). Donations will be accepted.

Gina Barreca in Waterbury

WATERBURY — Gina Barreca, a prolific humor writer with a feminist edge, will offer her observations Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Palace Theater, 100 East Main St.

"Gina Barreca & Accomplices" will showcase the latest anthology she edited, "Fast Funny Women: 75 Essays of Flash Nonfiction."

A talk about shrubs

WEST HARTFORD — The Connecticut Horticultural Society will present "Shrubs, the New Perennial" with Lorraine Ballato, a professional horticulturist, on Nov. 17 at 7:30 p.m., in person and virtual, at Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Drive, and on Zoom. A Q&A will follow.
