WalletHub says Oregon is one of the 10 worst states to be a police officer
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — If you’re considering becoming a police officer, you might not want to do it in Oregon.
According to a new study by WalletHub, Oregon is the 7th worst state to be a police officer.
The study looked at different areas including the number of law-enforcement officers, job pay, pay growth, violent crime rates and more.

When it came to the number of law-enforcement officers, Oregon came in last place. Oregon also ranked low in terms of income growth landing in 49th place and ranked 31st for percent of solved homicides.
It wasn’t all that bad however, Oregon ranked 18th for median income and 16th for police deaths.
Overall, the best states to be a police officer according to the study were California, Illinois and Connecticut.
The worst states were Nevada, Alaska and Hawaii, respectively.
