Walmart Announced Stores Will Be Closed For Thanksgiving Again This Year

Walmart has announced that stores nationwide will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day for the second year in a row. The move was made as a way to show appreciation for the Walmart employees and all that they've done for their communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Throughout the pandemic, our associates have been nothing short of heroic in how they have stepped up to serve our customers and their communities," Walmart wrote in a statement on their website announcing the news. Closing shop for Thanksgiving Day will allow Walmart employees to spend time with their loved ones and enjoy the holiday.
Walmart did confirm in the announcement that stores would be open on November 26th and will be following suit with their Black Friday 2020 plans which included three different shopping sale events. The first sale is hitting at the beginning of November, at 7p.m. EST on November 3, then in stores at 5 a.m. local time on November 5. The third shopping date has yet to be released.
Along with the Thanksgiving holiday off, Walmart said they will continue to offer pandemic-related benefits to their employees. These benefits include no-cost counseling services and two weeks of paid leave if they have to miss work due to COVID-19 or quarantining. Employees may also receive three days of paid leave if they feel ill after receiving their vaccinations.
