Walmart apologises for 'poorly judged' tweet about late Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker

Walmart has deleted a tweet and apologised for a tweet about the late Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker which some found offensive.

A shopper posted a tweet saying they were excited about a new product in stock at the retail giant - pink strawberry and cream iced cinnamon rolls.

They accompanied it with a gif of a speeding motorist and the caption: *me racin to the nearest Wally World*.

The chain responded with the quip: “Hey Paul Walker, click it or ticket.” Walker was killed in a car crash in 2013.

One person responded: “Dude, not cool. Paul Walker was known for giving back and helping others. I met a wardrobe dresser when I worked on a commercial in the Captain America outfit. She literally cried talking about him."

Walmart said that its response was a line from the Comedy Central show ‘Workaholics’, which references the actor’s character from the Fast and Furious franchise but was aired before his death.

One Twitter user added: “That's a line from Workaholics but it has not aged well.”

Walmart said: “We apologise to Paul Walker's family, friends and fans. The tweet was posted in poor judgement and has been removed."
