Walmart bringing parking lot parties to Michigan
Partying with Walmart might not have been on your bucket list, but its Summer Rewind roadshow promises to evoke feelings of nostalgia.
Touring across 33 U.S. cities, Walmart is bringing the party, with free activities and giveaways, to two Walmart Supercenter parking lots in Michigan: Taylor and Plainwell.
The event "lets customers travel back in time and experience our stores like a kid again — without all the rules," according to Walmart. "Whether it’s jumping into that famous Walmart ball cage or opening the freezer doors to snack on sweet treats, Summer Rewind gives our customers the chance to do all the things they were never allowed to do as kids — right from their local store parking lot."
Something for everyone
Greeted by a large, original Walmart smiley face, guests can take a stroll down an interactive toy aisle — where you can dive into the infamous Walmart ball cage, play with an oversized Lite Brite installation and contribute to a giant spin art project.
If you ever had the urge to enter a store freezer, you won't have to hold back any longer at Walmart's Summer Rewind; attendees will be able to go inside a freezer speakeasy to enjoy nostalgic summer treats.
"On the outside, the freezer speakeasy looks like a plain old freezer," said Walmart spokesperson Mark Rickel. "But when guests open the door, they'll be transported to a world of frozen treats from their childhood."
A Smiley Portal and life-size Barbie doll box will be available for unique photo opportunities.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to win various surprises out of a big vending machine near the entrance, including Walmart gift cards, jewelry, slime, bouncy balls, candy, toys and more.

The Taylor Summer Rewind roadshow will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Thursday, at 7555 Telegraph Road.
The Plainwell Summer Rewind roadshow will be 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on Sunday, at 412 Oaks Crossing.
