Walmart distribution center shooting leaves two dead

A shooting on Saturday at a Walmart distribution center in Red Bluff, California left at least two people dead - including the attacker - and four others wounded.

Tehama County's assistant sheriff said the shootercircled the center's parking lot four times before crashing his vehicle into the building and opening fire with a semi-automatic rifle.

The gunman killed an employee before being shot and killed by police.

Tehama County Assistant Sheriff Phil Johnston:

(Johnston on June 27, 2020) “At 15:36, the first Red Bluff police officer arrived, that officer engaged the suspect and had an exchange of gunfire. Shortly thereafter, a second Red bluff police officer arrived and also engaged the shooter. The engagement occurred in the parking area, outside the building, not within the building amongst the parked cars.”

Walmart said it was aware of the situation and was working with law enforcement authorities, saying:"We are deeply saddened by this tragic incident."

According to local media the Tehama County Sheriff's Office is conducting a criminal investigation with assistance from the Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
