While October just kicked off, many shoppers are starting to think about the holidays. In fact, according to Walmart's Holiday 2022 Consumer Insights Guide, more than half of the retail giant's customers will begin their holiday shopping research this month.
To that end, the superstore unveiled plans for providing an improved holiday shopping experience, highlighting "better value" and "more convenience than ever" with the addition of several new deals, products, features, and programs.
Here's a look at what you can expect to see when shopping at Walmart this holiday season.
Better savings and a bigger inventory
Who doesn't love a good deal? In its Consumer Insights Guide, Walmart revealed that 81% of its customers cited "low price/cost" as their top reason for shopping at the big-box retailer. Keeping this top of mind, Walmart shared that it will not only be ramping up customer savings by offering "thousands more Rollbacks," but it will also be expanding its gift selection.
With the retail chain making "significant investments in key categories," customers will be seeing more product offerings, such as electronics, home goods, beauty items, as well as 1,400 new toys. And as a bonus, more than half of the toys on Walmart's Top Toy List are less than $50, with many under $25.
Additionally, customers can access discounts on Flash Picks—a recently added section on Walmart's website that rounds up limited-time-only deals available online.
More return options
While making a return can sometimes be a hassle, Walmart's three new return options are designed to help alleviate the inconvenience.
There's the Holiday Guarantee, which allows customers who made purchases on or after October 1 to return the items through January 31, 2023. Curbside Returns will let customers make a return without stepping foot in a store. And for Walmart+ members in select stores, the retail chain is offering Return Pickup from Home—no shipping box or label required.

Enhanced shopping experience across devices
While online shopping is praised for its convenience and ease of use, Walmart has taken it up a notch. If you've ever wondered how a specific clothing item will look on you or how a piece of furniture will look in your home, the retailer now has some solutions.
Among Walmart's new features are two personalized shopping experiences: Virtual Try-On and View in Your Home, which were created to help customers visualize how products will look before they decide to buy them.
And for those seeking a more efficient in-store experience, there's now a Scan to Add feature, which enables customers to scan items in the store with the Walmart app to add them directly to their gift registry.
Lastly, with the holidays marking a season of giving, Walmart is helping customers give back with the rollout of Spark Good—an initiative aimed at providing nonprofits with resources while simultaneously encouraging people to support different causes.
Within this initiative, there are two programs: Spark Good Round-Up, which lets customers round up their purchase total and donate their change to a charity of their choice, and Spark Good Registry, which allows nonprofits to create and manage registries for items they need. This gives customers a better idea of where their donations will be most impactful.
