Walmart retail stores nationwide are hosting the annual Wellness Day event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to prepare communities ahead of the flu season and at the start of the school year.

Pharmacists will conduct free screenings for blood pressure, body mass index, cholesterol, glucose and vision. There will also be discounted vaccinations for the flu, Human Papillomavirus (HPV), pneumonia and more, including free COVID-19 vaccines.

Erica Chandler, pharmacy manager at Walmart's 4400 W. Tennessee St. location, said the pharmacy and vision center team are excited to reach the community and build awareness on the services the store offers.

"Sometimes we're the first line for a lot of our customers to get answers to their questions and to even be vaccinated," Chandler told the Tallahassee Democrat. "It's a big deal for us to be there and for our customers to reach us."

Gift bags and educational pamphlets will be passed out to all attendees at screening and vaccination stations set up at the pharmacy and vision centers in Walmart stores.

All Walmart stores in Tallahassee will host the event on Saturday and children are allowed to receive vaccinations.
