Mar. 27—Walmart plans to hold a third COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Hanover Area High School early next month and is accepting appointment requests through an online form created by the Hanover Area School District, officials said Saturday.

Appointments are available from 7:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on Monday, April 5, and Friday, April 9, which are non-instructional days, the district said.

An announcement on the district's Facebook page says the clinic is aimed at vaccinating residents of Hanover Twp. and Luzerne County. Those living farther than 30 minutes from the township are asked not to complete the appointment request form, which is linked in the announcement on the district's Facebook page.

"Please share & assist elderly residents complete this form," the announcement says. "Our goal is another 1,175 local residents getting protected!"

Authorities cautioned that completing the form does not guarantee an appointment, and those who receive appointments are urged to keep them so that the reserved spot is not wasted.

The clinic is the third Walmart is hosting for the district. Prior to the first two, a phone number provided by Walmart indicated all appointments were already booked at the time of the announcements.

However, as was the case for the second clinic, officials on Saturday said appointments were still available through the online request form, and that residents of the 18706 ZIP code, Nanticoke and surrounding areas will be scheduled first.

Applicants must still meet the criteria to receive a COVID-19 vaccine under phase 1A of the state's distribution plan.

Insurance is not required and there is no cost to receive the vaccine. Appointments for the second vaccination will be made during the first appointment.
