While most retailers are gearing up for the holidays with early Black Friday deals, Walmart is opting to go a different route. Before the mega-retailer begins decking the halls, it's offering shoppers the chance to save up to 50 per cent on a wide variety of items in honour of Singles' Day.
What is Singles' Day?
The internationally celebrated holiday, also referred to as "Double 11", began in China in the early '90s as an answer to Valentine's Day. The date was chosen to be 11/11 by Chinese university students to represents solo living. On Nov. 11 each year, single people take the time to treat themselves to some pampering or a night out to celebrate their unattached status.
In 2009, the holiday grew to become an mega shopping holiday when Alibaba began offering shoppers Singles' Day discounts.

Walmart's Singles' Week sale is online only through Nov. 11, so whether you're happily attached or flying solo, now's your chance to shop and save ahead of the holidays!
