Walsh at Benedictine football: Preview capsule for Aug. 19 game

Aug. 18—Walsh Jesuit at Benedictine

What: Non-conference game

Where: Euclid Community Stadium

When: 7 p.m, Aug. 20

For the record: What a barnburner this was last year, with Walsh Jesuit taking a 35-34, double-overtime win. ... Benedictine has a slew of new faces this year, although new QB Lucas Kaltenbach did get some spot-time last year. The offensive line, led by senior tackle Anthony Illiano, returns intact, so that will be a strength for the Bengals. Benedictine also returns its starting defensive line. With all that being said, the Bengals have the advantage in the trenches, so that's a plus in their favor. ... Coach Nick Alexander's Warriors graduated a ton from last year's 11-3 team, but keep an eye on QB Ryan Kerscher and RB Justin Bremner, who saw a lot of varsity snaps last year.
