Walsh Jesuit, Stow, Highland, Norton win, remain atop respective girls basketball leagues
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Walsh Jesuit 48, Mentor Lake Catholic 28
The host Warriors (12-3, 6-0) stayed undefeated in Crown Conference action Wednesday thanks to the efforts of Cesily Sutton (11 points) and Megan Taraba (nine points). Showing great team play, Walsh had nine players score.
Stow 57, Hudson 32
The Bulldogs continued their undefeated season (15-0, 7-0) with their second Suburban League National Conference win of the season over the Explorers (3-8, 3-2).
Hudson kept pace with Stow for a quarter, but the Bulldogs were able to pull away, including a 20-6 edge in the fourth quarter.
A big second half by Stow guard Anna Hurst allowed her to score a season-high 23 points, and guard Kristin Chmielewski added 15 points despite constant double teams from Hudson's defense. Forward Katy Croyle added 10 points.
Constance Loring paced Hudson with 11 points and six rebounds.
Highland 49, Copley 48
The Hornets (16-0, 10-0) need just one more win in the Suburban League American Conference to clinch at least a share of their first title since 1980. They picked up solid showings from Grace Madison (18 points) and Maddie Miller (nine points).
The leading scorers for Copley (8-6, 6-4) were Shelby Emich (16 points), Victoria McKnight (14) and Kami Ayoup (11).
Aurora 42, Revere 41
Ava Ryncarz (20 points) and Sam Stask (14) led host Aurora (6-6, 6-3 SLAC). Audrey Livesay scored 14 points for Revere (10-4, 7-3).
Wadsworth 57, Twinsburg 34
Regan Simpson and Cienna Matheny each scored 11 points to lead the Grizzlies (9-5, 6-2 SLNC). Logan Pride scored 10 points for the Tigers (0-14, 0-8).
Cuyahoga Falls 68, Kent Roosevelt 38
Mackenzie Kramer led all scorers with 16 points as four Black Tigers reached double figures in a Suburban League American Conference win on the road.
Cuyahoga Falls made 12 3-pointers in reaching a season-high in points in a game. Jenna Roberts, Laila Smith and Darlene Smith each scored 12 points for the Black Tigers (7-8, 3-7). Katie Keller led the Rough Riders (4-9, 3-7) with 14 points.
Norton 59, Streetsboro 31
Morgan Hallett scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the host Panthers (10-4, 9-0 Metro Athletic Conference).
Norton's Bailey Shutsa added 16 points and six steals. Gabby Destefano netted 11 points. Naomi Benson scored 20 points for the Rockets.
Cloverleaf 58, Ravenna 40
The Colts (11-4, 7-1 MAC) won with seniors Tori Smith (19 points) and Laurell Brown (17 points) leading the charge.
Anna Jones scored 11 points and had five assists for the Ravens (4-9, 2-7).
Springfield 50, Field 47
Visiting Springfield won its second consecutive game. Freshman Kendall Wilderman topped the Spartans (3-13, 3-7 MAC) with 13 points. Ellie Gardinier and Victoria Fields each added 12 points. Leah Kern had six points and nine rebounds.
Jackson 56, Lake 40
Emma Dretke scored 20 points and Lauren Pallotta chipped in 11 for Jackson (9-5, 5-4 Federal League).
North Canton Hoover 43, Green 38
Angela Roshak and Grace Craig each scored 10 points for Hoover (9-8, 5-4 FL).
Rootstown 54, Warren JFK 40
Nadia Lough's 14 points led the host Rovers (11-3, 6-1 Portage Trail Conference).
Mogadore 37, Lake Center Christian 18
Brook McIntyre scored 16 points and Amber Morris totaled nine points and 13 rebounds.
Solon 64, Medina 61
The visiting Comets used a 33-point fourth quarter to come back and win a Greater Cleveland Conference matchup. Morgan Blackford scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in fourth quarter. Chyanne Hatcher added 10 points in the final quarter, finishing with 23 points for the Comets. Solon (12-3, 7-0) held Medina to 17 points in the fourth quarter.
Freshman Olivia Klanac scored 20 points to lead the Bees (9-6, 4-2).
BOYS BOWLING
Springfield 2,765, Norton 2,509
Nicolas Bry and Jerry Koerber led the host Spartans to a Metro Athletic Conference win. Bry tallied a 486 series and Koerber had the match's high game (254).
Wooster 2,576, Wadsworth 2,451
The Grizzlies (3-6) had a strong showing at Wayne Lanes from Stephen Hines, who rolled a 430 two-game series.

Freshman Malaenna Martin rolled games of 181 and 187 to lead the host Spartans to a Metro Athletic Conference win.
Wooster 2,202, Wadsworth 1,653
The Grizzlies (2-6) were paced by Casey Hagenbaugh's 313 two-game series in this loss at Wayne Lanes.
