An official opening date has been set for the newest roller coaster at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
Disney announced in a blog post on Tuesday that the highly-anticipated TRON Lightcycle / Run will open on Tuesday, April 4.
Guests will get to climb on their own Lightcycle and take off on a high-speed adventure, racing through the Grid.
Disney said that this will be one of the world’s fastest coasters at any Disney theme park.
“The story of TRON Lightcycle / Run picks up after “TRON: Legacy” where Kevin’s son, Sam Flynn, has opened a second gateway into a digital realm called the Grid. The first of these portals he created is found at Shanghai Disneyland with the original TRON Lightcycle Power Run,” Disney’s post said.
Also among the highly-anticipated Disney attractions opening in 2023 is Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. Guests will be able to take a self-guided outdoor trail in Epcot, where they can interact with water as it travels from the sky to the ocean and back again.
The announcement of TRON’s opening date wasn’t the only big announcement Disney made Tuesday. It announced changes to the park reservation system, resort parking and photo downloads that it promised would bring more “value and flexibility” when visiting the parks.
