GASKIN — All residents made it out safely after a large fire destroyed a mobile home on Hemphill Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Walton County Fire Rescue crews responded to the blaze at 5:02 p.m. following a 911 call reporting a structure fire, according to a WCFR news release.

The caller stated smoke and flames were visible from their brother’s home nearby. Firefighters arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the back right corner of the mobile home.

“Walton County Fire Rescue quickly deployed an attack line and began battling the blaze,” the release said.

The Florala, Alabama, Volunteer Fire Department, Argyle Volunteer Fire Department and Liberty Volunteer Fire Department assisted in supplying water.

Firefighters contained the fire in less than 30 minutes, and all residents and pets made it out safely, the WCFR said.

The fire is believed to have started outside the home.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents.
