WandaVision fans are only just realising Elizabeth Olsen is related to Mary-Kate and Ashley

WandaVision fans are loving Elizabeth Olsen’s performance as Wanda in Marvel’s hit new series.

However, it emerged this week that not everyone is aware that Olsen is related to… twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, of Nineties TV and film fame. Cue uproar from the younger fans.

A tweet that has since gone viral since last week shows an outraged fan tweeting: “I'M SORRY WHY DID NO ONE F***ING TELL ME THAT #ELIZABETHOLSEN AKA WANDA MAXIMOFF HERSELF IS THE YOUNGER SISTER OF MARY KATE AND ASHLEY!!! I FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULD BE MORE WIDELY KNOWN!!!”

“Omfg why did no one tell me that Elizabeth Olsen who plays Scarlet Witch is the sister of the Olsen Twins from Full House?” another said this week.

Perhaps worse were the people who thought Olsen was actually one of the Olsen twins.

“Everyone talking about how they didn’t know Elizabeth Olsen was related to Mary-Kate and Ashley... when I thought she was one of the twins who acted in the marvel movies this whole time,” one confused fan wrote.

The posts sparked a discussion on social media, mostly among the people who failed to understand how anyone hadn’t realised this.

Elizabeth Olsen’s earliest roles were actually in TV movie How the West was Fun and the popular ABC sitcom Full House, in which the Olsen twins starred.

She has also spoken on multiple occasions about her famous sisters.

On social media, there were varying degrees of sympathy to those who didn’t make the connection.

Author Bolu Babalola tweeted: “Sorry did people not know who Elizabeth Olsen was before Wandavision? Because the amount of people just discovering that she is related to Mary-Kate & Ashley is concerning to me? Again, adult pop cultural illiteracy is a real problem and I DO judge.”

However, voice actor and comedian Brock Baker joked: “Hey people that didn’t know Elizabeth Olsen is the Olsen Twins’ younger sister, don’t feel too bad. I used to think Lindsay Lohan had a British twin.”
