Wanna get away? Megabus launches 33 routes from Des Moines to Omaha, Denver, Chicago and Indy

If sneaking off to Denver or miraculously landing in Indianapolis without driving a vehicle are on your bucket list, Megabus has the answer. The double-decker bus partnered with Burlington Trailways to offer service out of Des Moines, reaching 33 cities to the east and west of Des Moines.

Riders can go as far as Denver to the west and Indianapolis to the east, on the same bus. Chicago and Omaha are among the other big cities travelers can reach on one bus from Des Moines.

Where does Megabus stop in Iowa?

In Iowa, the bus stops in Monroe, Grinnell, Oskaloosa, Ottumwa, Fairfield, Iowa City, Davenport, Mt. Pleasant and Burlington.

How much does it cost to take Megabus?

A trip to Iowa City from Des Moines costs $41.75 for the hour-and-55-minutes trip. In Iowa City, travelers can change buses to reach points south such as St. Louis.

For $49.25, travelers can reach Omaha in an hour and 55 minutes. In 13 hours and 10 minutes, riders can reach Denver for $156.50. For $77.75, riders can get to Chicago in about six hours and 25 minutes, while a trip to Indianapolis goes for $149.75 in nine hours and 45 minutes.

The first person to book a ticket on any route can nab it for $1.

What can I bring on Megabus?

Riders can select their seat. Travel includes one piece of luggage up to 50 pounds and one small piece of hand luggage.

Megabus departs Des Moines from the Burlington Trailways Bus Depot at 1501 Second Ave., Des Moines.
