Want to check your kidney health for free? Mobile testing center coming to Modesto

A mobile testing center is coming to Modesto on Friday to provide free health screenings and kidney care education.

The screenings will assess risk factors that may lead to chronic kidney disease, according to a news release from DaVita Health Tour.

“DaVita launched its nationwide health tour to promote the importance of regular health screenings for the early detection of chronic kidney disease,” the release said. “Including educating those at greater risk for developing the condition that there’s no treatment as effective as prevention.”

Here’s what the screenings will include, and where and when you can find the mobile testing center:

Where will the mobile kidney testing center be?

DaVita will be at Vintage Fair Mall, on Dale Road. The mobile testing center will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

Other nearby California dates and locations include:

Livermore

  • San Francisco Premium Outlets

11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday

Sacramento

  • Arden Fair Mall

11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday

  • Sacramento Water Festival at Discovery Park

10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Nov. 4

What will the screenings include?

The health screenings are free and will include education about risk factors that can lead to chronic kidney disease. Risk factors include obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and a family history of kidney failure.

The screenings include body measurements, a blood pressure reading and a finger-stick glucose test to understand your risk for diabetes, the release said.

Visitors also have the option to receive a blood draw, which “offers an in-depth measure of kidney function.”

Each screening is followed by a confidential review with a nurse practitioner to go over results, according to the DaVita.
