As TCU continues its coaching search, one of the Horned Frogs' top players weighed in with his opinion on social media.

"We want Deion Sanders," starting running back Zach Evans tweeted, tagging the Jackson State coach.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Sanders interviewed for the TCU job earlier this week and is "squarely in the mix."

TCU parted ways with Gary Patterson, the school's winningest football coach, last month.

Other reported candidates include SMU's Sonny Dykes, Louisiana's Billy Napier, Iowa State's Matt Campbell and Clemson offensive coordinator Tony Elliott.

Sanders announced that he was released from the hospital this week, and has since been seen on Jackson State's campus. He has not spoken to media about the TCU reports. When asked about the reports on Tuesday, interim coach Gary Harrell said the team has not addressed them.

Jackson State is set to travel to Baton Rouge on Saturday for a key conference game against Southern. If the Tigers win, they clinch the SWAC East and a spot in the SWAC championship game. It is unclear if Sanders will coach or miss his fourth straight game.
