Want to dine out or order in on Thanksgiving? Here's what Springfield restaurants are open

For those who want to dine out or order in on Thanksgiving day, there are plenty of restaurants in Springfield to choose from.

The News-Leader compiled a list of dine-in restaurants and pizza delivery services that will be open on Thanksgiving day. Parts of this list were supplemented by information published by the Springfield Missouri Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Dine-in restaurants

  • Applebee's at 2430 N. Glenstone Ave. from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Applebee's at 1855 E. Primrose St. from 4-10 p.m.

  • Big Whiskey's at 311 Park Central East, 1550 E. Battlefield Road and 1440 W. Republic Road from 5 p.m. to midnight

  • City Café at 2129 W. Republic Road from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  • Cracker Barrel at 2858 N. Glenstone Ave. from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

  • Denny's at 4760 S. Campbell Ave. open all day

  • Golden Corral at 2734 N. Kansas Expressway from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Golden Corral at 2020 E. Primrose St. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • Waffle House at 3135 N. Glenstone Ave., 3410 E. Sunshine St. and 4128 S. National Ave. open all day

  • W.F. Cody's at 3138 E. Sunshine St. from 4-10 p.m.

  • Ziggie's Cafe at 2129 W. Republic Road from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Ziggie's Cafe at the Lamplighter Inn at 1772 S. Glenstone Ave. from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • Ziggie's Cafe at the Best Western Coach House at 2515 N. Glenstone Ave. from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where to get pizza delivery on Thanksgiving

  • Domino's Pizza at 538 S. National Ave., 2642 W. Sunshine St., 2565 E. Sunshine St. and 430 W. Kearney St. from 4 p.m. to midnight

Where to order a pre-made Thanksgiving meal

Folks interested in a homecooked-style meal who don't want to deal with fixing it can order Thanksgiving dinners from several grocery stores in town.

Both Hy-Vee locations (1720 W. Battlefield Road and 2150 E. Sunshine St.) offer Holiday Meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Main dishes include Applewood pit ham, brown sugar spiral ham and turkey, with plenty of staple sides to choose from. Costco also offers meal delivery kits, including a turkey breast dinner, black angus beef tenderloin meal and spiral ham meal. To place an order, shop online at costco.com/meal-delivery-kits.html.

In addition to dining in, folks may pre-order a heat n' serve meal from Cracker Barrel, available for pickup through Saturday, Nov. 26. These meals can be made ready to serve in about two hours. To place an order, shop online at crackerbarrel.com/catering/heat-n-serve.

Where to get Thanksgiving pies and other desserts

Prairie Pie

Maybe you have the main course covered but are still in need of a sweet treat. During Thanksgiving week, Prairie Pie is ceasing all pot pie production to focus entirely on its sweet pie offerings. The deadline for pre-ordering has passed, but sweet pies and take 'n bake pies will be available for purchase in the store this week on a first-come, first-served basis.

Sweet pies available for purchase include caramel apple, pumpkin, honey sea salt, cinnamon buttermilk, chocolate pecan, pecan and black bottom oat. 10-inch pies are $30 each and serve between eight to 10 people.

Prairie Pie's hours for Thanksgiving week are Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Wednesday, Nov. 23 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday, Nov. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon.

European Café

European Café also offers a variety of Thanksgiving treats available for pre-order. Thanksgiving dessert items include cinnamon rolls, pumpkin tarts, apple pie, lemon meringue tart, almond and pear tart, challah, kolaches, cardamom buns, croissants, macarons, and buns.

European Café requests a minimum of three days notice for orders, but short-notice orders may be accepted. Call the shop at 417-986-4646 to check availability. To place an order, call, shop online at 417europeancafe.com or visit in person at 207 Park Central East.
