Want to find a farmers market? Here are locations, hours in Lexington area

While Lexington Farmers Market is the biggest in the state and has the most sale days, it isn’t the only place to find fresh locally grown produce in the Central Kentucky.

Here is a list and guide of locations to buy vegetables, meat and more from local farms.

Lexington Farmers Market is downtown on Main Street and Short Street at the Fifth Third Pavilion in Tandy Park next to the Old Courthouse on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. year-round. On Sundays April to October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the market sets up along Southland Drive. On Tuesdays and Thursday, from mid-May through mid-November, the market currently operates at the corner of Maxwell and Broadway from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. or whenever vendors run out.

And on Wednesdays from June through September from 4 to 7 p.m., the market is in Gardenside on Alexandria Drive near the post office.

Black Soil KY Farmers Market, Oakdale Plaza at 2445 Mulundy Way, is open Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 8-Oct. 7. The market features fresh veggies, meat, eggs and items from local small businesses, makers and artists in Kentucky.

Bluegrass Farmers’ Market, 1837 Plaudit Place in the Liquor Barn parking lot on Saturday mornings. Everything at this market is 100 percent homegrown and produced. You’ll find seasonal fruits and vegetables, herbs, flowers, baked goods, jams, honey, cheese, eggs, locally raised meats, handmade soaps and more.

Chevy Chase Farmers’ Market, 200 Colony Blvd. in the Apostles Anglican Church parking lot. Now in its fifth season, this market is open Wednesday mornings from mid-April through Thanksgiving. Some of the same vendors from Lexington’s market also sell here. You can find fresh fruits and vegetables, flowers and plants, meats, salad kits, honey, baked goods, coffee and more.
