A piece of Akron's history is up for sale.

And if you are interested, this stately estate will cost you a princely sum. A listing on Zillow that went live over the weekend lists the home at 871 Merriman Road for $925,000.

This four-bedroom, five-bathroom 4,835-square-foot Tudor Revival is not exactly a starter home.

Built in 1928, it was originally the home of Della Wilcox, the widow of Akron civic leader and businessman Frank A. Wilcox.

The house was designed by Akron architect Roy Firestone.

Lee Jackson, a former president of Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., also called the house home.

The listing says much of the interior has been restored or updated including a new ceiling in the large family room just this year and a new boiler in the lower level installed last year.

The home, which includes five fireplaces, last sold in August 1987 for $305,000.

The annual real estate taxes on the house are $12,566.

The sale is being handled by Coldwell Banker Schmidt Realty in Fairlawn.
