We want your questions. Providence Journal to relaunch What and Why RI

Here at The Providence Journal, we love questions. They lead us to interesting places, important stories and closer to the truth.

The other thing we love at The Journal is you, our readers. You are forefront in our minds as we work to report the stories that serve you.

That's why we’re relaunching an initiative that combines these two loves of ours — What and Why RI. Our most loyal readers may remember this from 2019, but if you're new or don’t remember, we’ll explain it again. The last three years have been long.

What we found out:Why do Rhode Islanders say bubbler when most people don't?

The way it works is readers are invited to send in questions through an online form and our reporters work to find out the answers. The questions can be big or small, serious or fun, hard or easy. We want to know whatever it is that sparks your curiosity about Rhode Island.

We are thrilled just to have you send in a question, but there is one more twist for those who are interested.

When you submit a question, there is an open invitation for you, the question asker, to take a peek behind the scenes and work with a reporter. If you want, the reporter will keep you up-to-date on the progress of the story, check-in to see if you really feel they are answering the question, and even potentially take you with them on an interview. You don’t have to partake in this side of it to ask a question, but if you want to, leave us your contact information when you fill out the form and we will be in touch.

We look forward to where your questions take us, and hope it results in stories that you all really want to read. Submit your questions below to get the ball rolling.
