Want to ride the new Zambezi Zinger first? Worlds of Fun partners with Big Slick on drawing

The Zambezi Zinger is returning to Worlds of Fun. The reimagined version is back to celebrate the amusement park’s 50th anniversary.

The awkward bobsled-seated rollercoaster is no more. The new roller coaster will feature side-by-side seating and stands 74 feet high at its tallest point. That’s nearly 20 feet taller than the original coaster.

To celebrate the re-opening of the Zinger, Worlds of Fun is offering guests the chance to be the first to ride the new version.

In partnership with Big Slick, an annual celebrity fundraiser for Children’s Mercy Kansas City, you can enter a drawing to be selected. Thirty-two winners on two trains will be randomly selected from the drawing as the first public roller coaster riders.

To enter, you can donate $10 or more to the fundraiser. The more you donate, the more entries you have.

All proceeds from the drawing will be donated to Big Slick, hosted by Kansas City natives Paul Rudd, Jason Sudeikis, Eric Stonestreet, David Koechner and Rob Riggle that raises money for Children’s Mercy Kansas City.

“We are incredibly grateful for this unique partnership with Big Slick and Worlds of Fun,” Children’s Mercy CEO Paul Kempinski said in a statement. “The money raised will continue to position our Children’s Mercy Research Institute as a world-class leader in using whole genome sequencing to determine the best course of treatment to save lives today and add to a body of research to help children for generations to come.”

The new roller coaster will be part of a season-long celebration, which will include “50 Nights of Fire,” a stage show featuring top 40 hits from 1973 to 2023 along with a finale filled with pyrotechnics.
