‘I want to see your papers.’ Maskless woman taunts landscaper, California video shows

A woman is seen taunting a landscaping worker at a California housing complex, demanding his “papers” and blocking his way, video shows.

The woman blows a kiss at the landscaper working at a senior housing community in Rancho Mirage on July 15, then stands in front of his mower and approaches him without wearing a mask.

“Can you stay away?” Juan Carlos Andrade Mendez says in the video “You’re too close to me right now and you’re not wearing a mask. Can you step away?”

“No, I want to see your papers,” the woman replies.

Rancho Mirage city officials investigated the resident who lives at Parkview Villas, an affordable housing community, the Palm Springs Desert Sun reported. The city determined it was an isolated incident, and the housing policy doesn’t need to be changed, the newspaper reported.

However, a city attorney says property managers are conducting a separate investigation, which could lead to eviction, the Palm Springs Desert Sun reported.

“Like any other complex I was just doing the work for all of them, mowing the lawn,” Andrade told KMIR. “I passed by her apartment and when I turned around to do the second round that’s when I saw her standing.”

Andrade told Storyful he’s goes to the housing complex about twice a week, and the woman has interrupted his work in the past.

“When she was harassing me, I started to feel mad because I was just doing my work,” Andrade told KMIR.
