Want to share an opinion about the 2022 election? Here's the deadline to send your letter

Any local candidate for county, state or national office running in the 2022 primary election may submit one column of no more than 500 words per quarter (January-March, April-June) for publication online and in print in the Sunday Opinion section. Candidate columns must be submitted by April 12 to be considered for publication before the May 3 primary election.

All columns by candidates will be published as submitted, without editing by The Star Press for spelling or grammar. Opinion pieces must not include defamatory, false or potentially libelous statements.

Candidate columns will be available to read online for free, with or without a Star Press subscription.

Election-related letters to the editor from writers other than candidates must be no more than 250 words long and must include the writer’s name, city or town of residence and contact information (the latter for verification purposes, not for publication). Any election-related letters must be received by The Star Press by April 12 to be considered for publication. Letter-writers are limited to one letter a quarter.

All columns or letters to the editor must be submitted by email to letters@muncie.gannett.com to be considered for publication.
