Athens will get a chance to taste test food from Georgia-based burger chain Farm Burger at a one-day-only pop-up event Friday at Creature Comforts Brewing Co. from 5 to 8:30 p.m.. The restaurant will offer 100% grassfed beef sliders and veggie sliders from their upcoming storefront, which is expected to open at the 100 Prince Ave. development in early December.

The opening of the Athens location will hold a special significance for Farm Burger co-founder Jason Mann, who started his farm-to-table restaurant journey in the Classic City in 2005, where he developed the original "Farm Burger" as co-owner of Farm 255. That establishment closed in 2013 after eight years of operation at 255 W. Washington St. downtown.

According to Farm Burger's menu for the event, 10% of all proceeds from Friday's pop-up at Creature Comforts will benefit the Giving Kitchen, a nonprofit that provides emergency assistance to food service workers through financial support and a network of community resources.

The Athens location will mark the eighth Farm Burger restaurant in Georgia, and its first in the state outside of the Atlanta area. Farm Burger also has locations in Alabama, North Carolina and Tennessee.
