Want to try Athens' latest breakfast option? Another Broken Egg Café will be opening early

Training is already underway for the staff at Another Broken Egg Café, a Louisiana-based breakfast franchise that will be opening its Athens location this weekend.

Early risers looking to try out the chain restaurant's "Southern-inspired" menu offerings will be able to do so beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday at 2375 W. Broad St.

In addition to entrees like shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, a lobster and brie omelet, and huevos rancheros, Another Broken Egg boasts a "brunch cocktail" bar with mimosas, bloody Marys, "spiked" coffees and margaritas. The company's website did not specify how early in the day customers can order a "Hendrick's Hurricane."

Open daily from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Another Broken Egg Café already operates seven other Georgia locations, Athens being the company's 84th nationwide. Advertised using terms like "upscale" and "gourmet," menu items like the Broken Egg Biscuit Sandwich go for $14 with side choices that include grits, potatoes or fruit. Prices are similar for sandwiches and salads, while French toast and omelette dishes range from $17 to $20.

Another Broken Egg Café will offer online ordering for takeout and delivery and can provide catering for small or large groups. According to the company's website, some locations are able to sell alcohol for takeout, curbside pickup and delivery, but information was not yet available for the Athens location.

Founded by Ron Green in Old Mandeville, Louisiana in 1996, Another Broken Egg Café was named a “Top Food Franchise” by Entrepreneur Magazine and Franchise Business Review last year. Paul Macaluso currently serves as the company's CEO and President, and all franchises are owned by Another Broken Egg Café of America Franchising, LLC.
