A pair of teams hoping to finish the season with strong second half surges clash tonight in Greenville when the USF Bulls travel to face the ECU Pirates in an American Athletic Conference matchup.

The Bulls are 2-5 overall and 1-2 in the AAC, while the Pirates are 3-4 and 1-2. East Carolina won last year’s meeting 44-24, but South Florida holds a 9-2 edge in the all-time series.

Quarterback Holton Ahlers is a huge part of the offense, completing 144 of 239 passes (60.3 percent) for 1,763 yards and 10 touchdowns to date. In last week’s overtime loss at Houston, Ahlers completed 23 of 37 passes (62.2 percent) for 278 yards and two touchdowns.

Junior Jaren Mangham leads the Bulls in rushing, having carried 96 times for 416 yards and 12 touchdowns. In last week’s win over Temple, Mangham carried 26 times for 152 yards (5.8 average) and two touchdowns.

The teams meet tonight on a nationally televised ESPN broadcast, scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
