DAYTONA BEACH — In 2006, Daytona Beach News-Journal published its inaugural "Influential Women in Business" edition to recognize women in Volusia and Flagler counties outstanding both professionally as well as in their communities.
News-Journal readers are invited to submit nominations for the 17th annual Volusia-Flagler "Influential Women in Business Awards" which will culminate with a gala luncheon to be held on Oct. 5 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. A special section will also be published in The News-Journal on Oct. 9 that will feature question-and-answer mini-profiles of each of this year's women in business honorees.
The deadline for nominations is Aug. 26.
This years event will include the presentation of eight special awards including "Most Influential Woman of the Year," as well as in the following categories: "Civic Leader"; "Most Charitable"; "Nonprofit"; "Private Sector"; "Public Sector"; "Small Business"; and "Rising Star."
Over the years, more than 400 women have been honored with "Influential Women in Business" awards in Volusia and Flagler counties. Last year, The News-Journal and Local iQ recognized 28 more, including "Most Influential Woman of the Year" award winner Trish Giaccone, the CEO of the Family Life Center in Bunnell.
